FAQ

Where is the Storm Gem in Queen's Domain?
It sits in the upper Tower of Knowledge beyond the numbered gargoyle balcony puzzle: climb the large staircase near Knowledge Keeper Wourha's study. Collect it before using the rotating-staircase switch below the platform.
What does the Storm Gem unlock on Endu?
The HUD special attack meter appears after you retrieve the Storm Gem. A charge-based storm attack ties to that meter and links pickup to the Raging Tempest achievement on GameFAQs.
Does the Storm Gem replace a Wind Gem?
No. Storm Gem and Wind Gems use separate sockets—five Wind Gems for dashes, one Storm Gem for the ultimate. Missing a dash means finding another Wind Gem, not the Storm Gem.
Do you need the Storm Gem to beat the Necronomicon?
Walkthroughs route through Budaen's Forbidden Archives Key after the Storm Gem platform, not because the gem itself opens the boss door. Locked doors above the gem stay closed until you hit the lower switch, ride the repositioned stairs, and speak to Budaen.

The Storm Gem is a key pickup for Holy Sword Endu in the Tower of Knowledge—the third major region after the Isle of Neasied and Obmuer Temple. It fills Endu’s Storm Gem socket (distinct from the five Wind Gems), turns on the special attack meter on your HUD, and awards Raging Tempest when collected. It does not increase Wind Dash count or by itself open the Forbidden Archives route to The Necronomicon.

What Is the Storm Gem?

The Storm Gem is a missing component of Holy Sword Endu recovered mid-Tower. Endu’s item text ties the gem to the shattered True Holy Sword Akunra storyline—separate from forging Akunra itself, which is not satisfied by leveling Endu alone.

Mechanically, launch sources agree on a split:

Upgrade Effect
Wind Gems (×5) +1 max Wind Dash charge each
Storm Gem (×1) Enables charge-based storm ultimate + HUD special attack meter
Weapon XP Damage / Soul Bound Endu at level 10 (not storm-related)

How Do You Reach the Tower of Knowledge?

You cannot walk straight to the gem at game start. Typical gating:

  1. Holy Sword Endu + at least two Wind Dashes for the western bridge (see Wind Gems #2).
  2. Azure Torch from the gargoyle statue at the Tower’s eastern approach.
  3. Three outdoor gargoyle beacons lit with the torch (broken stair near second Wind Gem route, upper elevator alcove, Obmuer exit after Dagoom)—details in puzzle solutions and the Tower of Knowledge walkthrough.
  4. Enter the Tower, survive to the numbered gargoyle balcony, and light statues 3 and 7 only (wrong statues spawn Book Bugs).

Save at the interior Crystal Monument before climbing toward Wourha’s study—Tower enemies apply multiple status effects.

Where Is the Storm Gem Pickup?

After the 3 + 7 gargoyle puzzle opens the inner passage, continue upward toward Knowledge Keeper Wourha’s study.

Landmark sequence (compass-friendly):

  1. From the post-puzzle stairwell, work toward the upper Tower rooms documented in the Tower of Knowledge walkthrough.
  2. Locate the large staircase near Wourha’s study.
  3. Climb that staircase to the platform holding the Storm Gem pickup.

The upper floor creates a false dead end: locked doors near the gem do not open when you grab the item. Progress instead below the platform.

What Do You Do Immediately After Picking It Up?

The Storm Gem does not hand you the Forbidden Archives Key. Route through a movement puzzle under the gem platform:

  1. From the Storm Gem platform, look downward for a lower opening or ledge.
  2. Use Wind Dash to reach it (three dashes from Obmuer’s third Wind Gem help here).
  3. Activate the wall switch to rotate the grand staircase.
  4. Climb the repositioned stairs, find the elevator, ride down, and speak to Budaen for the Forbidden Archives Key.
  5. Return toward the locked Archives doors near the Storm Gem area with the key, save again, then enter the Necronomicon gauntlet.

What Does the Storm Gem Do in Combat?

After installation, the special attack meter appears beside the Wind Dash row. A charge-based storm attack fills that meter—exact input labels vary by platform binding.

The ultimate is offensive, not traversal:

  • Wind Gems extend dash chains for gaps and switch puzzles.
  • Storm Gem adds the storm ultimate tied to Raging Tempest (GameFAQs achievement).

You can still Wind Dash without equipping Endu, but the storm meter logic is tied to Endu’s upgraded kit—pair with the Holy Sword Endu guide for evolution timing (Soul Bound Endu at level 10 is independent of the Storm Gem).

Defeating The Necronomicon (not required to pick up the Storm Gem) drops the Acid Vial and Golden Duck Figurine. The Acid Vial lets throwing daggers melt fleshy barriers toward Deimpo Mausoleum—a separate post-boss route from the Storm Gem staircase.
